Welcome to Cedar.
This is where we outline our routines and tell you any important information you need to know.
At the beginning of each term the children will have a grid sent home with them which will have different tasks for each topic. These will need to be brought in every Friday so that I can see how the children are getting on with their homework and that they are not being left behind.
The homework will be due in at the end of each term. There will be dojos for those children who manage to complete one piece of homework from each topic.
The children will all have the chance to go to the school library every Thursday to change their books after they have quizzed on them. The quizzes will test your child’s comprehension and for every child that gets 80% or more they will be awarded 3 dojos.
I would like the children to read with you at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes.
Spelling and Times Tables
The children will each have a spelling and times table list given to them every Thursday and they will be stuck into their spelling and times table book. The children will be tested on their spellings and their times tables every Thursday and if they achieve a score of 10 or more then they will receive 3 dojos. The children’s times table test will be done out of order so the children will need to know their times tables out of order.
I would like the children to write out their spellings and times tables 3 times in their spelling and times table books, children will receive dojo’s if they do this.
The children will have PE on a Wednesday and Thursday, and they will need to have a full PE kit with them in school. Their PE kits will need to be clearly labelled.
Please bring trainers for outdoor PE and they will be barefoot if its indoor PE.
The children will be going into the woods every Friday, they will need to have old clothes with them this must include:
- Long trousers
- Long sleeved top
- Waterproof coat
- If it is raining the children will still be going into the woods.
The topic for this term is the Romans. We will be finding out how the Romans lived, what they did for entertainment, inventions they created that we use today, the Roman army, and we will be exploring the many gods the Romans believed in.
